The COLORBOND® Ultra range colour roofs are highly recommended for homes that require excellent protection against severe environments.
If your home is located in an area where there is a distinct smell of salt or if there is salt spray in the air (about 100 to 200 metres from breaking surf), COLORBOND® Ultra offers the best protection.
This range is also ideal for places where industrial emissions, such as fumes or particulate fallout are commonplace.
COLORBOND® Ultra Colour Range
Of the 33 colours available, 3 of these are double-sided (both top and underside) and are high gloss.
The double-sided colours are only available in the same colour, not in a mix of colours. These 3 colours are Paperbark, Surfmist and Classic Cream.
Note that there are no double-sided hues available in the COLORBOND® Matt colours range.

Some go with contrasting colours that have a lighter frame to offset the darker coloured roofs - or vice versa, using a darker frame to offset lighter coloured roofs.
Others want their new patio to look seamless, so they keep all the colours uniform.
Now, with the Matt finishes available, you can combine two of the same colour belonging to different colour ranges to have a vastly different look.
What Are the Most Popular COLORBOND® Colours?
By far, the most popular colour requested by our customers is Classic Cream, with Surfmist, Ironstone and Monument not far behind.
Classic Cream is popular for light roofs as it has been around for a long time and is quite often used on new homes as well as older, established homes.
The Classic Cream hue works well with dark coloured roofs to give you a nice contrast, and as the roof sheets are double-sided, you can see why it is the most popular.
New housing estates and renovations have seen more of the Contemporary COLORBOND® colours increase in popularity. This is due to more modern styling cues – and colours, of course, play a large part in this.
A great tool you can use is the COLORBOND® colours chart found on the COLORBOND® website.
With this chart, you can change the hues of the roof, gutters, downpipes and flashings according to your taste or new colour scheme.
The chart also offers a great way to try and visualise the different colours on your new patio.
How to Care for Your COLORBOND® Roof?
COLORBOND® roofs are extremely durable, and with a bit of TLC, they could last a lifetime. So, to ensure their quality and extend their functional lifespan, consider the following tips:
- Conduct self-inspections and annual roof inspections by a specialist.
- Get your roof repainted by a qualified roof painter when necessary.
- Clean your gutters at least twice a year.
- Take steps to protect your COLORBOND® roofing from corrosion, including using bolts, screws, and flashings made of the same metal. Better yet, use COLORBOND® Ultra if you live near the sea.
- Prevent the build-up of moss, mould and grime by subjecting your roof to regular professional cleaning.
- Make sure you use only COLORBOND® screws to protect your roof from rust and discolouration. If your old COLORBOND® roof has galvanised screws, get those replaced immediately with COLORBOND® screws by a professional roofing restorer.
